Regal Blue

I needed a change from portraits so I guess chairs are next! This is a small painting that I did from a quick sketch inspired by Susan Vida Judah's tapestries on old chairs. Her work was featured in this week's "Salon". I loved the photos of the chairs. They all had such personality!
I started with a quick sketch of a chair and then created the painting from the sketch, being careful not to go back to the photo and get too realistic. I called it "regal" because the top of the legs remind me of puffy medieval sleeves.

  1. The Regal Blue is my favourite- it reminds me of the Victorian chairs we see in photos of those parlours- also with bottoms that tend to spread out a bit more, this chair looks very comfortable, stylish and chic!
