Seeing the Sights

Latina Grocery - it looks small but is actually quite big inside and filled with every gourmet delight you can imagine!

It's great to go on vacation and see the sights. Every big city has them. There's the Colosseum in Rome, the Eiffel Tower in Paris or the Forbidden City in Beijing and if you travel to these places you definitely have to "see the sights". However, in my opinion, sight seeing should be so much more!

On a recent road trip my husband and I stopped in Montreal. We were only there for enough time to take in a few things... so what do you choose? Mont Royal? The Museum of Fine Arts? Habitat 67? Since my husband is a bit of a foodie, we decided to hit a popular (and very old) bagel shop and Schwartz's Hebrew Delicatessen. Our GPS led us to some very interesting neighborhoods.
Besides buying two dozen bagels and enjoying smoked meat sandwiches with fries and a giant kosher pickle, we soaked in the feel of the neighborhood and speculated about what it would be like to live there.

After doing a lot of traveling to many major cities in Europe and Asia, I relish a different kind of vacation. I would love to spend  more time in one place and get to know it. Explore the neighbourhood, check out the local shops and markets. Try the local coffee shops, bars and restaurants and perhaps even become regulars in my favorites!
